Beard oils serve multiple purposes. They smell good, they make your beard look shiny and healthy, but mostly, they are there to help your skin. Our skin creates natural oils to keep the skin moisturized, but beard hairs - even short ones - tend to wick those oils away from the skin causing the skin under your beard to get itchy, dry and irritated. Using a beard oil that contains natural, plant-based oils without alcohols can help condition the skin and hair to help prevent that from happening.
Beard oil can also give you some control over styling your beard and help tame loose hairs and fly-aways. Sometimes, though, you need a little more control. That's where our beard butter comes in. Longer, thicker beards get better control from the thicker butters, while also benefiting from the same materials contained in our beard oils.
Absolutely! How much you use, how often you use it and what you use in combination is really up to you and the results you are trying to get.
Most days, I just use a hunk of beard butter to style and treat my beard for the day. If the day is winding down and I need a little extra something for my beard, I'll work in a little oil. If I've got a lot going on or if its really hot, dry or windy out (especially when I travel to Phoenix), I double up with butter and oil.
If your beard tends to be a little drier or itchier, you might use a little more. If your beard is a little thinner or naturally softer, you may not need as much. You can reapply in the afternoon or evening or do one-and-done in the morning to cover you all day. It is really all up to you.
We’ve carefully selected the materials in our products to provide the best quality and value to care for your beard. We don’t use alcohols that can dry out hair and skin and cause irritation. Instead, we only use the best natural oils and butters to give the best for your beard.

In general, a small amount of beard oil is placed in the hands and massaged into the beard and the skin beneath. Products can be applied to a dry or damp beard. Start with a little and add more product for longer, thicker beards, until the desired effect is achieved.
With beard butter, scoop out a small amount (start with the something the size of a small breath mint) and rub it between your palms and let it melt. Massage the melted butter into the base of your beard, into the skin and then work down the length of the beard. If you need more, scoop out a little more and repeat.
With oil or butter, you probably want enough to make the hair soft and shiny without being greasy. Remember, you can always add more, if you need it!!
Once you have your product applied, brush or comb the beard to get the styling you want.
Products can be reapplied as needed throughout the day, if desired.
In general, an application in the morning will last all day, but it really depends on how much you use, what the temperature and humidity are like, how dry your skin and beard are naturally and a number of other factors.
You may notice that the smell isn't as strong after a few hours. That doesn't mean the oils and butters aren't still there and taking care of your beard! The fragrance oils can evaporate quicker than the carrier oils and butters. If you want, you can add a little more product to keep that fragrance lasting longer, but don't overdo it and end up with an oily beard!!
When trying to find name for our products, there were a lot of Vikings and pirates and skulls associated with beard products. We wanted something a little more personal. Created by Rob Hunter, he was considering HUNTER as a name, but that was already taken. Instead he looked to the traditional Hunter family crest which features three classic hunting horns…symbols of the chase of high pursuits and nobility…traits shared with a great beard!
